Server Setup & Management

Servers that are patched, monitored and documented, so nobody on your team has to become the accidental sysadmin.

Best for

Teams running production servers that were set up years ago by someone who has since left.

< 30 min
Priority-1 acknowledgement by an engineer
100%
Servers under documented patch policy
Quarterly
Backup restore tests, evidenced in writing

What is included

Capabilities

The specific work, described in enough detail that you can compare it against another quote.

01

Build & Hardening

Linux and Windows Server builds from a documented baseline: minimal packages, key-only SSH, host firewall and CIS-aligned configuration. Scripted, so it is reproducible rather than hand-crafted.

02

Patch Management

Security updates on a schedule you approve, tested on staging first, with reboot windows agreed. No more three-year-old CVEs sitting in production.

03

Observability

CPU, memory, disk, service health and certificate expiry monitored with thresholds that mean something. Noisy alerts get fixed rather than muted.

04

Database Operations

PostgreSQL, MySQL and SQL Server tuning, replication, point-in-time recovery and slow-query analysis. This is the layer where most 'the server is slow' tickets actually originate.

What you receive

Artefacts you own, not access you rent

Every engagement ends with documentation in your hands. If you ever replace us, the next team can pick it up without an archaeology project.

  • Server inventory with roles, dependencies and access owners
  • Hardening checklist with the result recorded per host
  • Automated patching schedule and change log
  • Runbooks for restart, restore, failover and escalation
  • Verified backup restores, tested quarterly and reported

How it runs

From first call to steady state

The same four stages apply to every service, so you always know which one you are in.

  1. 01Week 0

    Assess

A technical session on what you run today and where the business is heading. You receive a written assessment of risks, priorities and approach.

  2. 02Weeks 1 to 2

    Blueprint

Target architecture, component choices, monthly running cost and a migration sequence with rollback points. Fixed price, delivered as a document you own.

  3. 03Weeks 2 to 8

    Build & Migrate

Infrastructure as code, staged cutover, and a rehearsal before anything touches production. Planned downtime is agreed up front, and usually there is none.

  4. 04Ongoing

    Operate

24/7 monitoring, patching, backup verification and monthly reporting on uptime, spend and capacity. Your named engineer stays the same.

Questions

About Server Management

Ask Something Else

Yes: Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL/Rocky and Windows Server, on-premise, colocated or in any cloud. Mixed estates are normal and we manage them under one contract rather than splitting the bill by operating system.

That is most of what we do. The first phase is discovery and documentation: mapping what exists, what depends on what, and where the undocumented risks are. Only once that is written down do we start changing things.

Most server work is remote. For physical work we coordinate with your data centre's remote-hands service or your local provider, wherever the hardware sits, and supply exact instructions so it is done right first time.
